The Rotary Club of Wetherby was originally chartered in 1968. Over time, the club expanded its scope to support the broader surrounding village communities, adopting the title Rotary Club of Wetherby & District. Operating as part of Rotary International, the club brings together local professionals, business owners, and volunteers to support charitable causes locally and globally.
Core Activities
Community impact: The club provides hands-on support and funding for local initiatives, including food banks, parks, animal welfare charities, youth mentoring, and civic events (such as the town carol service and senior citizens' Christmas lunches).
Charitable donations & fundraising: Through the Wetherby & District Rotary Club Charitable Foundation (Registered Charity No. 1189521), the group makes grants to charities, focusing on poverty relief, disability support, education, and general community causes.
Global initiatives: Alongside local work, members support major international Rotary goals, including the global effort to eradicate polio and regional disaster/humanitarian relief.
